Finally On Break

Hey guyz! I'm finally on winter break! : ) We actually got snow down here in NC! It was actually a great snow and we're suposed to get more Christmas eve.I've moved and i'm going to the doctor again in less than a month to see when I can ride again! Hopefully soon! But lately i've been catching up with old riding buddies on facebook among other things. Hopefully you all have a great christmas and New year.

Hey guys!

I hope you had a great holiday! With our family it was food galore! : D And right as i'm typing this i'm drinking a starbucks double chocolate chip frappachino. Which probably isn't the smartest thing to do not long before bed....oh well! Anyway, I moved last week and it's been okay. I have only gotten on the trampoline 2 or 3 times. Also i've only gone into the woods 1 time since. I'll probably do that after school one day or something. Sooo yeah. Anyway i'm trying to edit a video of a horse i used to ride. I've not ridden him for around a year now and I finally feel like i'm ready to move on. He was a hell of a horse.(He's still alive, don't worry) He taught me everything from walk-to jumping 18 inch courses. I went to my first walk-trot and walk/trot/canter shows with him.And had my first 2 falls off of him He was my partner in crime. When I was with him, nobody could beat us, as far as i'm concerned. We may not have gotten a ton of blue ribbons, but we learned every step of the way. Out of everybody that rode him, I was the only one who could get him to accept the bit. Not even my trainer could get him to do that. The day of my first show, my mom and trainer, Linnea, were standing @ the fence together and Linnea was talking about me and Toby. She said, " Christen and Toby make a great pair." My mom asked why. Linnea replied "Because they surprise each other!" We were great at jumping. I've only jumped 2 horses since and neither were as smooth jumpers as him. I'm not saying that i'll never find another horse for me, but, Toby was a great horse to learn on and i'll never forget him. I had some of my best times on this horse.

This week

This week has been awesome! My Animal Science 2 class had a feild trip on Tuesday. We went to the NC zoo. Then The Twilight Saga's : New Moon came out today! : ) I'm going to see it with my friend Elaine tomorrow : ) Sooo freaking excited!!! Then next week starts Thanksgiving break. I go to school Monday and Tuesday then off til December 1st :)

Well I gotta go. I have to be at the theatre by 9:30 in the morning and the drive is pretty far. : P But this is the best theatre in the area! Reclining seats, etc!

Cast Is off!

Hey everybody!
My cast is now off : ) I'm happy about that but....I asked when I can start riding again. The doctor said MAYBE after I see him next. In two months! At this rate I won't be able to ride til my birthday in February! grrrr And right now I'm trying to do online work my algebra 2 teacher assigned...grrr i'm not doing good at all.

OMG soo much stress

I'm soo stressed about everything right now! School, home, riding. In school today there was the Beta club induction ceremony and everybody i knew looked at me and asked why I wasn't being inducted. I would if it weren't for math bringing my GPA down. And so I'm taking Algebra 2 right now and it's kicking my butt! So i'm really stressed about that. The rest of my grades are fine. They are actually really high. And also we have been doing stuff to plan for our graduation projects. I'm quite possibly conditioning a mare for my trainer. Hopefully the advisory team will okay it. But anyway...Lately it has gotten to the point to where I wasn't sure wether to continue riding or not. Then I started thinking."What the heck. Y should I quit?! Riding is my way to relieve stress. so by quitting I would be adding more stress, not only making myself miserable" So as you have it i'm not quitting. : ) but yeah...i gotta go. i'm not feeling so well. I haven't really all day.

Yep, it is correct. Only 8 more FULL days of having a cast. Hopefully it won't be a bad omen to get it off on Friday the 13th... Then I get to ride again the first week of December!!!! : )

College Fair tomorrow

Tomorrow at school, the juniors and seniors have to go to the college fair in the morning during 1st period. Yay I get to miss some Physical Science! Hopefully there will be some colleges with equine programs. I know some of the colleges like UNC Chapel Hill, UNC Greeensboro, etc. But who knows what other college representatives will be at my school in the morning. Btw...does anybody else at school have to google, google to get google? We do at mine.

I got my new saddle!

I got my saddle yesterday : ) I get to use it in December! I get my cast off on November 13th so I have to wait 2 weeks before I can ride again. I might use my new helmet too. Not sure yet though. I do know is that lesson is going to be coldddd! So i'll definatly be wearing my gloves. Also soon I hope that i'll canter. I miss it soooo much. It's my favorite gait. And hopefully jumping soon also. But who knows, Linnea might want me to focus on the flat for a while. When we were talking about the show, the jumping was a BIG maybe. But anywayz.... i should be ordering my stirrup leathers sometime next week. : ) so i'll take a pic then and upload it.

New cast on my arm.

Ok. I have a new cast on my arm. It's neon green. : P I get it off November 13th! : ) Then I can ride again in December! I'm sooooooooooooooo ready! I wanna try my new helmet. Also I went to the barn today to talk to my trainer about helping me with my graduation project. I think we have decided to finish it with a show in walk/trot/canter and maybe some low hunters...not sure what class yet

I have been procrastinating for a while on my graduation project letter of proposal. I gotta type it in the morning and then turn it in. Also my advisor does NOT want me to do anything dealing with horses. Well guess what, I'm conditioning a horse. My freakin trainer wants me too! ( i'm not mad @ Linnea. My skool is just stupid)

got a new helmet!

I got an IRH Pro-Rider show helmet! I love it. Also i got new stirrup irons. :) soon i'm getting the leathers & a carhartt jacket for winter riding. : ) Even though i live in the South it still gets pretty chilly here.I'm still looking at horses online for when my dad finally says yes, and my trainer has been looking for me a horse for a while already haha. My mom asked her a while ago to help me. She is mainly looking for QH's & paints.

Surgery 2 days away : (

I have surgery in 2 days : ( , no riding for 2 months. it SUCKS! Also i'm buying a new saddle that I can't ride in til December! arggg! It is a Weaver 17 & 1/2 inch close contact saddle in havana. I gotta get new leathers and irons. So this weekend i might be going to the tack shop in another town to see if they have any that match the color. Also... last week I went for my riding lesson. I forgot my camera, it was a stressfull afternoon and i just forgot, and it's not acting right, but has anyone ever had a trainer that knows what your gonna do even before you do it? Mine is like that. Shes like "I wouldn't do that Christen!" I've known this trainer for 2 & 1/2 years soooo by now she should know me well...i just wouldn't think she'd know me that well. haha. I love her though, she's great. Well i gotta go do US History homework that never ends.

ok it's official

My surgery is on October 1st. I have to have an Osteotomy. They are going to cut away some of a bone in my wrist so it will take some pressure off of another bone in my wrist and hopefully it will allow circulation to that second bone. I'll be in the hospital overnight, then go home the next day. I'm probably going to be a real bitch. I don't do pain well. I'll be a cast for two months. Yep, you guessed it, no riding for two months. : ( Major sad face.

Docotrs appointment tomorrow!!!

I have a doctors appointment tomorrow. : / I have to miss school and with it being Friday tomorrow, I miss a Physical Science test and a US History Test. So I guess i'll have to go early one day to take the Science test and take the history test during panther day....oh well..

Anyway, hopefully we'll know my surgery date soon. I really need to let the school know. Also..
The county fair is here...my FFA club shows animals. : ) I'm showing a goat : ) Hopefully i'll do better than 5th place like last year...stupid judge. He accused me of giving a dude answers when i was telling him to get off my foot. (This is why i stick mainly with horse shows.) But you get money and a ribbon for any placing. Last year i got a pink ribbon and $36 for prizes. and free admission to the fair.
Okay...i'm done.

I hate wrong labels

Last Christmas I got a new saddle. It was labeled as a 17 inch. Well.. I've used it a grand total of two times and i have to sell it. It is NOT a 17. I took it to the tack shop to sell and they measured it and it is actually a 16 & 1/2. I need a 17 or 17 & 1/2. So there is a Weaver 17 & 1/2 A/P saddle there that I am considering. who knows, I might find one I like better (I doubt it for that price)

I have some good/bad news

Well... I have recently been informed that my doctors appointment has been moved up. So we're probably looking at surgery in October : / I have no idea of how soon i'll be able to get back into the saddle afterward. Also, the horse that caused this injury will NOT be boarding with me anymore. The owners are pissed at me for something that was their fault. But anywayz, I'm moving sometime soon. It's only going to be like 1 1/2 miles away from my current house so it won't be too bad. I could walk to the tack shop from that house if I wanted to. Also i've been promised that when our current house sells that i can start my horse search. And get a laptop. I won't have a big enough room for my desktop. A horse that i really wanted has already been sold : ( , so i am a little disappointed but I will continue searching. I have a lesson with my trainer on Thursday and she has promised me that she will help me with my horse search. Ever since the accident with my friends horse , she is a little..uhh...paranoid about what horses i get on, understandably, my hand is screwed, also she doesn't like TB's anyway. So we're mainly looking at QH's but it's not limited to that. My fav breeds are QH or related to QH's so...i'm kinda picky. I kinda have to have the horses that are lazy i guess would be the word. But also have some get up and go to them. If they are naturally fast then...not good for me...Oh well...enough of me ranting.

Riding yesterday.

My lesson was awesome! I rode a horse named Red, who loves to go fast. Most horses i've ridden like to go slow. So that was a little difficult. So a lot of half-halts were used. My equitation was extremely bad. I know it. Also my muscles really aren't there haha. Also right now, i'm not that confident in the saddle, so the saying "Fearless in the irons" does not apply to me right now. But anyway, Linnea said she'll ease me back into it. It was really hot yesterday, so I hosed off Red afterward. He's sooo cute when he gets hosed off! = ) Linnea had to help me with a lot though, with my arm it's not like I can do that much for a while anyway. I have to get surgery = (

Sadly No riding today.

Well...me typing right now means I did not die today. There were really bad thunderstorms so we couldn't go out on the trail. I did meet the horse I would have ridden though. His name is Red. He doesn't like ANYONE near his stall but once he's outside of it he's fine. Linnea said that he's really fun to ride. Also my trainer brought her horse, Moonshine! I've missed him. He was one of my four-legged partners in crime. *I had many* But anyway, Linnea asked if I was free any day this week after school to come ride. SO i'm going for a lesson on Thursday. : ) It turns out I forgot to tell Linnea that I was riding bareback on my friends horse when I was bucked off... She was not happy with me at that moment. She held her arm to my forehead and i was like "This is NOT a V8 commercial!" I thought she was gonna pop me in the head. SHe was like "I was just checking to see if you were sick!" (She thinks i'm weird anyway) But yeah it was the second day Count had been in NC and Liz wouldn't let me use my saddle so I had to get on bareback. Come to find out Count is TERRIFIED of a car driving slowly by. He bucked me off as soon as i got on. The pic is of me riding Count when we went to try him out. Had to drive 3 hours to go see him. Sooooo boring. ARggg. Oh well thats all i have to say.

School Next week

Sadly, school starts next week. I won't have much time to be online or ride : / . I will try to get on as much as I can. It's junior year this year. Ahhhh! So to get the year to somewhat of a good start, i'm going trail riding with my old/new instructor. Don't ask about the old/ new part, it's a long story that is really involved, to say the least. Anyway with school, I got my schedule recently.
It is as follows.

*1st Semester*

1st Period: Physical Science
2nd Period: Animal Science 2
3rd Period: US History
4th Period: Algebra 2

*2nd Semester*

1st Period: Biotech & Agriscience Research
2nd Period: English 3
3rd Period: Spanish 2
4th Period: Film Critique

So first semester will be harder for me than 2nd semester.
Anybody notice that i'm taking 3 science courses this year?
So anyway....i might post tomorrow. Depends on my day, meaning if i don't get killed by a horse.

I just sw a new trailer yesterday and it shows Dakota Fanning as Jane, so looks soo creepy. Almost what I imagined Jane as. But the only thing was, I thought Jane was a brunette....oh well. And they started filming Eclipse yesterday!! Yay. Although I think Summit needs to get there ego checked. Rachelle was the perfect Victoria and they fired her cause she'd miss 10 days of rehersal. All she really would do is fight. But whatever. Summit will get it one day...wait i think they already did. With putting that trailer in the Bandslam previews. That movie didn't do so well in the boxoffice. It just got leaked on the internet anyway so i don't see why they even bother. Thats pretty much all my ranthing anyway.

I'm soo sorry guys. THings have been hectic lately. I haven't ridden since April/May and tons of doctors appointments and end of term. Now school starts in a few weeks! I'll be a junior this year :P I may or may not have to have surjury. We don't know yet. We'll hopefully know on the 19th. THats when I go to the doctor next. I got an invitation yesterday to be a student ambassador next summer and it means going to EUROPE!!!! Yay! I might be going to Italy, Sicily, and Greece! The trip is for 19 days. Also family wants my family to come visit them in Canada. So my show season next year will be scarce/if i get to show @ all! I'm actually in the process of trying to get a horse. So that will be interesting. I am interested in a 16.1hh Black QH mare named Mocha. : ) Trained both english and western I believe. I only ride english. Well... I ride both but i have the equipment to ride English. It's my preference. I do ride bareback too.

Book Reviews. (not all horse related)

Ok i've read all of the Twilight Saga.

I recomend Twilight. It is a great book about how a human and vampire meet. If you think that this isn't really your kind of reading then forget what your thinking. I said the same thing. I love it now.

The sequel to Twilight , is New Moon it is not high up on my favorites list. Just because Edward isn't in this much. Other than that its a good book.

Next Comes Eclipse. It is much better than New Moon. It is a little suprising to say the least. Great book

Lastly for today comes Breaking Dawn. This is a really good book. It is the longest of the Twilight Saga. Life twists and turns for Bella, Edward and the rest of the characters in this book. They go throught many troubles ,trying to figure out how to fix them.

Well thats all for the reveiws today. I know it wasn't horse related but many horse loving teens love Twilight also.

Go see the movie "Twilight" if you can!
